OK Guys rebuilt the powerscreen engine with new rings, no smoke no rattles all is good, gave it a blast to the MOT station around 30 miles round trip using Millers 10w40 running in oil, question is how long to leave it in? Ta in advance

Did you give the bores a light hone or at least use a glaze buster brush? If not its unlikely they'll ever bed in! If you did then just use it as normal - max revs are ok just don't stay there which will over heat them. Once they've had a few cycles of this ie cold / hot / cold / hot etc. they'll be good to go. Unlikely to be much oil contamination with just rings so oil change isn't really necessary IMO

Upperton said to fit the rings dry and by the time you have done the cam timing and tappets they are good to go

Yep honed the bores prior to putting the rings in was thinking of chucking the oil out after around 2 to 300. I agree it needs a few cycles. Yes I read Rogers way about doing the cam timing and ready to go ha ha, my theory is the better it gets run in the better it will be in the long run. Ta for the replies, check out the rebuild from link below

my undertanding is dry build gives the best power from the start but may not last as long.wet building takes time to get the power, may never peak as high but last much longer so it depends on what the motor is built for.if it was my motor id get to about thirty miles in 2 heat cycles then get a good semi synth in there.
