Hi guys, just joined the forum and asking what seems to be an age old question..... B6/750 swap, I have searched the net and got allot of mixed opinions/results this place seems to have the experts so here goes! I have a 99 b6 (will attempt to post a pic) have got hold of a decent gsxr750k engine and a set of 38 flatslides and a 750 cooler. Still need 750 coils and cdi. Any help tips or advice will be massively appreciated as It's my first build (background is mainly mx four strokes)
Thanks all!
Que "this topic has been done to death" comments!!

The B6 coils will work fine on the 750 engine, so will the CDI. Swap the sump pans with oil pick-up and the B6 exhaust will fit on the 750 engine. 38mm flatslides are too big for a 750 engine, 33mm flatslides or 36mm CV's (the original 750K carbs) are much better.

The b6 32mm's also work well on the 750 motor and the 600 cdi also works on this swap,as CC already said

Btw do you mean the cv 38's from the 750l/m or are the proper 38mm flatties?? I only ask because some people call bstss cv's flatslides because of the flat plastic or ali slides.

AHHHHH just lost my whole f***** post!!!!! sorry Ok here goes again, Happy i can plug and play with allot of those parts!! ref the carbs, is it worth me getting hold of the 36's or will a decent set up set of 32's do the job? (think the 38's i have are the cvs from the l/m Del) With the CDI is it worth getting a 750 one or are the rev limiters pretty similar? (12-13,000 i think... ) Anyone got a decent set of 36mm carbs? ?!!!!! or want a really clean set of 38's? i will try again to stick a pic of her up... Many thanks for help so far its really apprieciated!!! next challenge swing arms.....

Don't rev an 86 gsxr750 engine to 12 or 13k as it will go bang. Use the 600 ignition by all means and just do what we used to do in the old days of points ignition and watch the revcounter. Good looking bike - where did the seat come from ?

Ok , will avoid redlining... With the bandit cdi I think the rev limiter is about 9k so should be pretty safe, its an 89(k) engine any ideas about HP figures to expect? Was hoping for about 75. The seat unit was done in the south west by previous owner so Im not sure! It's a ducati style number made from fibre glass with the usual twin rear lights. I have a srad swing arm that I have been told will fit with minor work, any one done this or know if its possible? Cheers!

With the bandit cdi I think the rev limiter is about 9k so should be pretty safe, It's the B12 that has a 9K rev limit, the 6 is around the 12K mark.

The 600(teapot/blandit) and 750's are both the same, between 10500 and 11000rpm(depending on year/model.Even the 650 is lower than the 750's 10100rpm)Also peak torque is produced about the same rpm.Was working on a b6 all last week, pain in the arse frigging thing

When we did this,we used all the 600 wiring/cdi on the 750 short stroke engine This used all the b6 electrics/cdi and even the 32's and standard airbox with a 750L lump And i even used 88 gsx600f wiring and cdi on this, with a short stroke 750.

All v good looking builds! many thanks for clearing that up. Think im going to go for the b6 wiring and carbs so all i need now is some decent oil lines. im assuming its banjos on the engine to an 10 threads on the cooler? i have a cooler from a 89k that i was going to use but its fookin mahoosive! looks a bit big against the frame seen a new 16 row cooler on fleabay for 45 quid anybody anyone got any experience with these? any idea if these are worth a look?
Many thanks, again!
