Apologise in advance for spelling.. will apprichiate and be gratefull of any help or advice. So riding along and bike dies on me as i accelerate it sort of feels like it is misfireing. As i reach about 5 maybe 5.5 k revs the bike dies and i notice the rev counter needle hits 12k revs but not the engine its dead. The bike died for 5 min could not start it. Did this a couple o times. Other day it started and i left it tick over while i was cleaning it and it died and i cannot start it at all. I even tryed bumping it down a very long hill with no joy..... Thanxs again for any help. Regards pete

I think the GSX has the tacho signal via cdi, so it might well be a cdi problem. Check all connectors for fitting and corrosion. I have heard of water get into the cdi box too - I managed to open mine and looked for poor solders - it was just one of the connectors moving as it turned out though !

CDI unit should be under the seat somewhere, near the battery.
Oh and by the way: Real bikers only bumpstart uphill.

I had a honda vfr400 that had a similar problem, rev counter going haywire and it cutting out...turned out to be a bad earth connection
