Straightliners is cheap - try entering a championship ! RWYB is still a good way of doing it my best times were during obscure car meets , lots of runs - dunno If the cars allow bikes at RWYB any more - prolly not

No idea what they charge these days, i was going to ask that question too. My last outing at at Santa pod was a tenner (i think) that was a RWYB, and the last straightliners meet i was charged on the gate, and also to race too. I will have a look on the straightliners website if it's still up and running, last time i checked it had'nt been updated for ages...

Just had an email from Helen at Straightliners... No prices have been finalised yet, and Elvington is no longer on the list of tracks for this year, wonder why that is ? As soon as i hear back from them, i will post details.

Elvington has an on-going issue with NOISE and various council restrictions, etc. becuase of feckwit neighbours........ Ah, that old argument was rumbling the last time i was there, a few years ago now. It's a shame, Elvington is a great place, i've had some really great weekends there. Why do people buy houses next to airfields/airports/racetracks etc and then start whining on about noise ? makes me sick

I had another email from Helen at Straightliners. Apparently, Elvington is not cost effective for drag racing anymore They will only be using that venue for top speed events now.

Slightly aged thread I know but anyway...I've been thinking of doing some Straightliners events next year. Been racing with the National Sprint Association for the last couple of years. Entry costs are £50 for Weston Zoyland in Somerset and £60 for Shakey. For this you get 12 registered runs over a weekend with as many extra runs as you can fit in on both days. They accept day entries and I think the price is the same. WZ is an old WW2 bomber base strip. the standing joke being : It's the only strip you have to mow before you can run ! True it's a bit bumpy but still sees regular 9 sec runs. Where do the Straightliners hold events ? Nick Hobbs
