Hello In a recent Streetfighters mag there was a fooking awesome GSthou with a Effy motor in it. The owner fitted Gix1127 sleeves and Busa pistons for some extra go. Can someone explain the process of this mod and exactly what is needed please. Thanks.

Can someone explain the process of this mod and exactly what is needed please. Thanks. It basicly goes like this.....you take your EFE block and stick it in the oven at gas mark 5 for about 20min.....or untill the block drops of the liners.....then do the same with ya gixer "or blandit" block..... Take the bare EFE block and your gixer . blandit sleeves to your friendly "trusted" boring man...and get him to machine said block to accept the new sleeves.....once he has done this and overcome sealing them into the block....toss a set of "Gen 1" 81mm bus pistons his way and ask him to bore it to accept them with the correct clearance for your disired application..... you will then have to dry build the engine to check valve-piston clearance and sort out C/R and if you need to deck "machine" the block assemby to get the C/R your after..... the combo gives you a 1340 "ish" cc motor.....without the draw back of a solid "big block" for street use.....and before anyone goes you can run a big block on the street....yes i know been there done that got the Tee Shirt...."they are a pain in the arse in traffic"... theres pro & cons with both options the bitsa method discribed above has the benifit of allowing air to flow through the block as per a stock motor....however there can be issues keeping the motor oil tight ...... so there ya go simples ..."but not for the faint hearted or novice" IMHO...........

From memory, if you're using the 18mm pin 2nd gen busa slugs with the non efe bottom end, you need to shorten the barrels by 3.2mm - got a set of non efe barrels with 1127 liners and 2nd gen busa slugs all machined sitting here, except i need to deck it and open up the cases... but now that I'm changing direction, the combination I'm interested in uses standard liners and ZX9 pistons... not sure how much they need the block shortened though.

Well, yeah, I know that stuff - but the one guy i've found that's used the 75mm ZX9 slugs has said "Bad idea, don't do it, will tell you more later" - i'm waiting to hear what the issue was. I suspect they might require more meat carved off the block than the GSXr or Busa slugs - either way, the zx9 slugs are a 18mm pin like a gsx.

Whats wrong with the 1127 liners and 2nd gen busa slug option then
gives you more cc than the krapasaki slugs...
