beautiful bike, really surprised that your going MSVA and Q plate route though, thought you would have bought a donor frame with V5 at a glance the indicators look very close together? also dont forget a rear reflector, not a triangular one the test isnt as hard as they make out, just go through the test manual yourself and just about the only thing you cant really test unless you got the gear is the noise level. I am going the MSVA route as frame is a US import, i had done too much work to the frame by the time getting a frame with V5 came about in conversation. not hopefully getting a "Q" plate, as i have a "proof of manufacture" certificate from Suzuki UK that states the frame was made by them on 1st may 1977 in Japan, so i should be able to get an age related plate issued just have to wait and see

oh and your going to need a different seat, needs a handhold, either strap across seat or hand rail bits either side etc, sorry dont mean to be a picky git, but trying to save you time money and hassle Tony, thanks for that but I have a spare seat with strap that is going on just for the test

if you have proof of manufacture then why MSVA ?
with other unregistered builds, (I am also involved in lambrettas etc) you just declare NOVA online, get proof of date, ie from owners club or you have the dating letter, MOT, then apply for age related, no need for the MSVA

Tony, I tried to get as much info as i could on the subject, but never got a lot of feed back to it!! and couldnt find anyone who had done the process themselves, I had been told about the prosses you have just described, but didnt think it would work as i wasnt re building a stock GS, Due to all the changes i have made it would require MSVA anyway!! and all the reading i had done said that it wasnt that simple. So i desided to go MSVA with the age cert as it was a known path

you can declare the nova yourself online, just say it was bought from a UK dealer or an autojumble etc etc, sure you could find an old receipt for it if required so long as it came from Europe your ok I be very interested to see what they do as I have only ever seen Q plates or brand new plates after an MSVA, its a stunning bike, would be very proud of myself if I had achieved that.

blimey, Im always happy to be prooved wrong, I spent ages chatting with DVLA and VOSA trying to achieve that, but was told by everyone that it wasnt possible
hope he gets the age related, nowt wrong with Q plates, but I think it would ruin the look of that fine bike

well had a good chat with someone at HMRC and they said i dont need to NOVA, as its only a frame and that dont count as a vehicle, said to put a note on registration doc for DVLA stating a customs note Number that refers to that fact. will see how far that gets me with DVLA

Isnt it all just the fuckin same!!!!!! thought i had everything sorted and ready for the test!! did a bit of work on the fuel lines, fitted a dry brake connector, fitted the seat with pillion strap and fitted the last fuse i needed, started her up, got the rev counter/shift lights set. after all that went through everything to make sure it all worked with engine off. then dont know why??? but did it all again with the engine running, fuckin indicaters flask fast/intermittently FFS, so looks like i have the problem Cookie had, only with my indies not my dash! i wonder if it is my stick coils causing it? anyone got any ideas?, as i am shite with electrikery

Bitch!!!... these things come to try us mate, teethin' problems are the scourge of anyone who builds bikes. Wish I could help but used to hand over all my electrical work to a mate who was a trained Bosch technician... rather his brain have a meltdown than mine

is it a cheap chinky electronic flasher relay, some of them are mega fussy on the supply voltage and with engine running, you likely to have 13.7V or so, Ive seen them play up like this
bought a decent unit from local bike shop and it was solved, but I cant guarantee it in your case
