Can anybody tell me if there is a way to ID a geny cover? I got one off that site we all love to hate, it seid it was a gs1000 but it dose not fit over the gs1000 starter rotor/geny (got my cash back) not had a good look at it but bolt holes seem to line up. will get a pic latter if it helps.

Can anybody tell me if there is a way to ID a geny cover? Errmm.. Ask for its passport? ..ba dum tssh..Else search for a stamped/embossed partno. inside the cover, and look that up.. (I can visually tell GSX750 and GSX1100 covers apart, but know little of GS's..)

I dont know the year of the motor I have but the geny/rotor are bigger than will fit in the side cover. Dose anybody know what year they change and was it to go bigger or smaller?

Well thats a good Q. I've got a cv head on my motor, but I don't know what the rest of the motor is. I can get the size of the rotor which is on my motor tomorrow, otherwise I was thinking of putting a GS850 rotor and geny on the 1000 as they are smaller/lighter and do just as good a job (done this before on my other GS1000)

Sounds good to me, I will get a pic tomorow (sunday). For your info, my rotor is 130mm dim and it's that that will not fit in the cover, if you get the size of your rotor it will also give us a idea. I got this one off ebay as well off someone saying he has had only GS1000

Sorry not got back sooner. I have found out the GS750 cover looks like the gs1000 and the 750 cover fits the 1000, but the starter and geny on the 750 are smaller than the gs1000. So if the starter cluch on the gs750 will take the presher of a tuned gs1000 I'm going to look at using the 750 cover and starter clutch etc, as it will also be much lighter than the gs1000 set up. And cheeper LOL
