Hi - joined the forum to find some good info on a conversion that a mate of mine did a few years ago. Its a Bandit 1200 slotted into a Gixxer 750 L rolling chassis. Pic below Its a great bike, just built for trackdays. Needs a better exhaust with more clearance and some new rearsets - but it goes pretty well all things considered...... A friend donated some 1989 Gixxer 750 cams to the project the other day, so these will be fitted up soon. From what I have read, it looks like I can just use the OEM cam sprockets from the B12 motor and bolt the 750 cams to these ? I also have some 41 mm Keihin flatties to bolt up to this motor, that should help it breathe a bit better these carbs have already been jetted up for a 1200 motor, so should work pretty well. The dodgy old 4-1 is also getting the flick in favour of a decent Yoshi full system. Hoping for about 130-odd hp at the wheel - is this a realistic figure ? I was hoping to get a couple of tips from the experts here about this motor. 1 - Is it worth using a 3deg ignition advancer ? 2 - Given the lighter frame and running gear - what would be the recommended dial-in for the cams ? I have seen a few different opinions about this, the OEM B12 cam sprockets will be slotted to allow some variation in the cam timing. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi and welcome. Turbo the bike and give me the Flatslides, everybody happy.
Seriously, ask in the relevant section (oilcooled) and you will get all the info you need, and more.
