I have a complete gen 1 B12 and was planning on putting engine, forks and swingarm in a GS750E frame. Found the mount drawings and comments on engine placement and dealing with chain rub if engine is biased forward or making header extensions to bias engine to rear. In the US we had the GS650E (chain drive), wondering if that frame would be a better choice for the B12 engine. Has anyone seen that done, or have any input on doing that?

I didn't even know there was a 650 chain drive gs & suspect most here wont either so my thoughts on it are stick with the 750 frame if you think you may need help with the conversion at least that way we know what we are talking about & the help will come from people that have done it with that engine in that frame

I'm putting a GSX 600 in a 650G shaft drive. The 600/750 is easier to get in than the original motor, easier in that The valve cover can stay on. The 1200 is a little taller, so figure at least a valve cover needing to come off, should work fine as far as shoving non-stock power plants in different bikes go.
If it's been done I haven't found any internet proof, but it probably can be done. Found a gs550 with a 750 gsxr motor, but that's it.
To me, I like a smaller power dense bike, so I say stick with the 650 even if you have to make it up as you go.

One of my ALL time Favourite bikes. Marco's GS550 with a turbo GSXR1100 motor in it. He purposely used a 550 frame as it fitted the motor better than a 750 frame he started with. I think the oil boilers were based on the dimensions of the 550 motor any way so makes sense that they fit that frame best. Only issue was chain clearance. He had to cut and plate the frame to get it. This bike sums up Old School for me.

The B12 motor will go in a gs750 frame but you may need to alter the tank, as to the b12 into a 650 frame, I've put a gsxr1100 (1052cc) into a gs550 frame myself years ago and it gose in very snug but I was not using the standerd body work I've also put the gsxr1127 motor in the same gs550 frame (as blow up the 1052cc two times LOL) the 1127cc motor needs a lot of work to the frame to get it in as it's to tall so the B12 motor being a bit taller that the 1127 motor will be more of a prob. Enjoy
