Anyone painted a powder coated surface? I am rebuilding a small Yamaha dirt bike and recently had some of the bits powder coated silver. I am not keen on the shade (as grey as it is silver). I know Holts silver wheel paint will give me the correct colour but I do not know if powder coat can be painted as obviously it will be difficult to remove. Any suggestions gratefully received. Cheers, D.

Yes as above key it well, I have done it a few times & powdercoat makes a good base to paint on as long as its sound in the first place

Many thanks for that. The powdercoat is new so really sound. Would I need to use a primer or would the powdercoat act as a primer?

I would steer clear of cellulose based paints as it will eat the powder coat.
I had a fresh set of wheels done and accidently splashed some cellulose paint on the wheel, it took off the shine on the powder coat straight away, so it may react with the finish.

Ok, thanks for all who made an input. I will do a small test piece first and report back on the overall results.
