Had the float bowls off and checked the jets, nothing obvious to see. No snagged pipes or wires. It ticks over lovely, as soon as you Rev it it goes all rough and lumpy. Gonna book it in with Bsd and have it on the dyno to see what's happening. Fed up now Did you take the pilot and main jets out? Sounds like its not squirting any/enough fuel when you rev it so there must be a blockage somewhere:-/

I did it with the carbs still bolted on, I didn't want to get involved in taking them off and fighting with the airbox etc. I'm not very patient when it comes to this sort of thing.

I sold the EFE cos I didn't want to fiddle anymore..I will book it in with BSD this week sometime. They can check the jetting and dyno it.

I agree with bigkenx, deffo need cleaning properly..
I thought mine were clean until I took them out and soaked them overnight...made a huge difference and its worth the hassle to do it yourself both for peace of mind/experience and for saving money

Rusty, you're right. Like I said, I don't have the patience, or the time to mess about these days. I know I can do it, I just don't... I need it sorting sooner, rather than later as I will need the bike for work when the van comes off the road for a week or two.
Ken, thanks for the offer mate.

Well, IT'S FIXED !! I will try and explain what went wrong. Inside the carb tops is a tube that the spring runs inside...The top on No.1 cylinder has been snapped off at some point, probably by the previous owner who had been messing with the jetting. This meant that when I gave it a fist full the spring pulled right through to the top of the carb and to a point uncoiled itself, in turn meaning it couldn't return to it's correct position, therefore flooding the cylinder with fuel. I think that's how Mark explained it anyway So, he had to make a tube to replace the missing one as he didn't have one in stock. There were various washers missing in there as well, he said he was surprised it ran at all. He ended up removing the carbs altogether and going through each one to check it was all there ! So, it's now all fixed and set up properly, he dyno'd it at 122 rwhp which I'm chuffed with. I can ride the bugger now

Nice one Dave!!, glad to hear it wasn't anything serious or expensive to put right. I dunno, yet again the moral of the story 'ere is, "if ya don't know what yer doin, leave it someone who does"
