First gen bandit you can use a busa shock. For second gen you can use one from gixxer k7/8 with a bit spacing on the dogbones I think you are mistaken there matey mark 1 bandit 1200 shock length is 305mm mark 2 bandit 1200 shock length is 320mm Gsxr 1000 k7/8 is 315mm Early hayabusa is 330mm the k7/8 fits the mark with a squeeze and 4 washers, raises the back 25mm with b12 dog bones the busa fits the mark 2 and raises the rear 25mm ish with std dog bones ive usec about 8 of the 1000 shocks on b12,s ive owned the work really well Cool thx for the info Will double-check the year of the bike to be sure, nice to know that either way there is a good option that will raise the rear a little while only needing a shock change (and maybe some washers)

Any recommended parts vendors FBB? Obviously robinsons is the nuts for specific items, but general service items such as oil, plugs, filter(s) etc..?
With regard to filters... Airfilter.. its about £30 from robinson's for an OEM one, am wondering whether a "performance replacement" might be a better investment for the guy? (To be honest I bet it looks like brand new after only 10,000 miles in 10 years, its probly got more spiderwebs in it than dust / dirt!)

I use our local bike shop, and as for air filters, a K&N will help it breath a bit better, but a clean standard one will be fine if the rest is standard??

Aye, think the bike is prettymuch standard barring a "sporty" endcan... I had read comments on banditforum that the Mk2 bandits really DONT like running K&N Panel filters etc.. without modification of the airbox and it's far better off to use the stock airfilter, unless your dumping the airbox entirely? Any thoughts / info? Cheers FBOB

Never had a mark 2, but most of the mark 1,s ive had ive fitted k&n panel filters and with an end can, normally going up 10% on the main jets and they run ok, cant see a mark 2 being much differant

Yes they have different carbs, but they are the same size and the main jets are 100 instead of 102.5, and feeding the same engine so an increase in 10% should still be somewhere handy to start from
