Hi everyone,
17" conversion continues at a snails pace! Rear end all sorted and in place. Discovered loose drive sprocket during conversion so that was a lucky escape. Anecdotally, anyone else had this?
Main question to those who have already done this conversion is this; I want to retain the '85 slab ignition barrel using the 1100K yokes. How did you mount the barrel up? I don't want to go hacking perfectly good parts about without a good precedent to follow.
Any advice is gratefully received.

Ignition switch is the same on both models, mounted under the top yoke with two allen key 6mm bolts

Thanks for that Kokolis but unfortunately the boltspacing is different. Mine's an'85 750. No bother I'll work it out.

LOL! Nah just don't want to bother the brotherhood with bloody ignition switches. WTF was I thinking, I've got forks to service.

OK a before pic above. There is not much info out there on this (because it really is not a very important consideration) GSXR1100K top yoke. Note the casting towards the front for the ignition barrel/switch. This will have to be removed to use it with a slabby switch. I chose to use my trusty hacksaw and a set of files. I will take it to a friend's engineering establishment for final finishing when I am satisfied that it works to make it look nice. The dreaded 'after' shot showing the butchered top yoke. The 1100K ignition switch casting has now been roughly cut off and files applied judiciously in order for the slabby one to locate properly without fouling the upper fairing mount (bolts onto the steering head of the frame). This allows good routing for the cables and a free movement of the front end. Note my excellent handiwork! To make the barrel fit and clear the upper fairing mount, the 1100K lugs/pillars also need to be reduced in height to match the same dimensions as the slabby one. To do this I took a hacksaw to them and cut them down. I then drilled them out to M6 and re-tapped them. I'll make them look nice once everything else works. Hope this helps anyone else doing something similar.

Here is the bit I didn't have time to show earlier. A slabby 750 top yoke. The GSXR1100K must be 'adjusted' in such a way that the ignition switch mounts without fouling the fairing bracket and to facilitate routing of cables blah, blah, blah. Grind the1100 'pillars' down. The picture below illustrates what I was aiming for in respect of dimensions. Cheers all :]
