Hopefully me and 3 Others Are planning our first TT run next year But where the hell do we start? Trying for a house rent may be but seems there all friends of friends who offer this?? Other idea was camping, has anyone used the pre set up sites? Or the camping pods? Any help would be great as it's took long enough for us to decide to go over!! Thanks Dan
We always tried to book the freight boat from Heysham, the 1am crossing I think it was. Gets you onto the island around 6 am ish, and if things are still the same, it's slightly cheaper than the regular passenger ferry. It was sometimes a cramped journey though, with people dossing in corridors etc, good craic though.
there is a member on here ? who has a small flat easy to get three in there. hopefully he may contact you when he see,s this ? or ask me next week and i will send details . i did stay at the rugby ground at laxy shower,s food beer....... and quiet till we got there

just been lookin on steam packet site trying to find boat to get across on late friday 3 of june or early hours of sat 4th as foot passengers x4 and come back on sunday 5th , looks like everything booked up , anyone know anywhere else to try me and 3 others who i work with want to go over just for that weekend, they,ve never been before and what about camping , is it easy to find somewhere or is that a mare as well will only be for one night or two max depending on getting across , anyone got a paddock or field to pitch in , not too fussy, any help greatly appreciated
If I remember correctly, you used to be able to just turn up at the ferry port, and take a chance on getting on a boat as a foot passenger. I did it the very first time I went over.We went just for the day, it's pot luck which boat you end up on though, we were lucky enough to get on the first one leaving when we got there.
As for camping, can't help there, I've only ever been in b&b and home stays.
