This will no doubt be a dumbass question to expert bike builders on this forum, I'm not by any stretch of the imagination, hence my question.. but where is the starter motor located? Is it under the wee lid below the carbs..? I've been told I might have to earth it better as it's not turning over quickly although I managed to put in a new battery..  |

It is indeed below the cover under the carbs. Check the main earth connections (engine and frame) and condition before digging in there though.

Like said check engine earth 1st, as i think you'll find only positive lead to starter, amd earths through body onto crankcases, but could remove starter and connect direct to battery, soon know which it is and go from there
