Hey guys,
I have a 77 or 78 GS750, serial# GS750 42***, that is the basis of a 7/11 project. Right now it has a GS650 front end on it (same fork diameter as 750, but with dual discs). I'd like to put a better front end on it.
I have triple trees from a GS1100, but I'd rather go USD forks, if possible.
I realize the older frames are trickier to put new front ends on. What am I going to run up against, and what would be good candidates?
I have a GS1100 swingarm for the rear. Not sure yet whether I'll use spacers to make it fit the GS750 pivot, or drill the frame.

swap your gs stem into the usd bottom yolk and you may have to make some lock stops up dead easy why don't you use a gsxr750 arm instead of the gs one it will make it a lot easier to fit 3 spokes

So, pardon my ignorance, but what do I do about the top yolk?
I have the GS1100 swingarm already, so it's cheap as free. A GSX-R arm would be nice if I found one cheap, but what I'd really love to do is put some new rims on the old GS750 hubs ... and put fatter rubber on. I think it would look pretty cool.
Three-spoke wheels would be OK too, though, and they'd be way more practical.

you may need a top hat spacer to take up any clearance in the usd top yolk

Got GSXR1100 G/H front end on mine which keeps the 18 inch rolling radius using the gixer yokes and gs stem, another option would be bandit 1200

The other problem with the GSX-R swingarm is that it means I would have to install a monoshock mount, and I have no welding skills whatsoever.

An alloy Kat arm from the 80s is a popular swap for going to a wider tyre on a GS. Although they can be pretty hard to track down.
I saw one on ebay for £60 a while back.

I put a GSX-R 1100 K front end in a GS1000 frame, fitted really easily, only had to sort out top yoke and steering stops and also kept a more traditional look by still being RWU in configuration.
