Hi guys,
why do the needles in Slingy speedometers always break? I have now three speedos with broken needles, i'm running out of them soon.
And how can i open a speedo nicely to glue it?

you need to slow down hahaha
i imagine the glass will be glued in, careful removal - a heat gun will soften it if it is and a scalpel to start to cut into it - carefully

you need to slow down hahaha the speedo shows untill 180 km/h (it's a Jap spec one) and i was doing only 160-170 km/h most of the evening yesterday. It should handle it without any problems. Anyway i replaced it with my last "good" one now and will take it to work tomorrow, see what i can do.

Ok, i've had a look. The glass is not glued, but clamped in position with a metal ring. I have loosened the clamp carefully with a screwdriver (on the backside, where it sits on the foam from the bracket, so it will not be visible), removed the glass, glued the needle and put the glass back on. Folded the clamp back in position and now everything is ok. Also found why it broke, the foam gets soft with time, and the speedo and tacho were resting on the metal bracket, vibrations caused the needle to break. Around the hole in the bracket i put some lining from an aftermarket windshield and now the speedo is sitting on rubber again. Will post some pics this evening.
*edit* da picz: i put some soft lining where the speedo body touched the metal bracket
