The time has now come, were my old man has decided to sell his 9.50 race bike, to build what he beleives will be his last race bike (he aint getting no younger ya see). We've been throwing idea's around for some time now as to what direction he wants to take. Given his "balls to the wall" riding style, maybe something with a slick and bars would have suited, but he had already said he doesnt want a barred bike unless its a Funnybike, so the plan was settled, and we've decided this year, to build an outlaw, ready for the 2016 season.
In order to acheive his goals, it was decided that this will be a "from scratch" build, which would give us more scope as to what parts we use, rather than just using because we have them sorta thing. This isnt intended to be a quick build...nor a cheap one either. Its going to have some of the best parts possible to make it go as quick as possible with a 15 stone suited rider on it, and hopefully be competitive enough for ACU Comp Bike.
This is what we have to start with:
A 1 peice outlaw body (will probably be chopped up) A 1216 GSXR motor (will be changed/upgraded once the bike is finished)
that all we got, so plenty still to sort
So we started our search for a frame and settled on either GSXR slingshot, RF, GSX. After trying all ideas, we settled on the older GSX frame, as this gives us scope to upgrade to a monster ProMod Spec motor if the funds ever materialise. The wonders of the interweb turned up a EFE frame ready to get butchered. Time to get building..........

EFE frame ready for the chop. First job was to get a measurement from the front axle to the swingarm pivot so we know what length swingarm we are going to need to have build. We borrowed the front end from my 8.50 bike, which conveiniantly just slipped nicely into the front of the frame with no issues. This gave not only gave us the measurement we needed but also gave us an idea of what front end to use. Now with that in place, we threw in an old crappy swingarm that we use for mockups, and try the body to measure the ride height, seat height, body position, and see what the body looked like. We knew what sort of seat position we were after. So out came mr grinder for the first cut of the build. Then in with the crappy swingarm a rear wheel and test fit the body. Already we love the way the bike looks. seat position is perfect, ride height is perfect (1/2" lower than my gsxr to the frame rails), we dont like the tank tho, it may look ok with a motor in, but we're 90% sure that its gonna get hacked off, so we've bought another fibreglass dummy tank which we hope will look alot better and give us the look we're after. The wheelbase is currently at 68" (as luck would have it) but its going to be alot longer!

The body is from a Blandit Martin, we did however try it on an rf chassis when we were looking at our options. Didnt look too bad but the rf frame would just require too much work to sqease another motor in. Ill post up a pic as soon as i figure out how to do it from my phone lol

More parts turned up today. GSXR K2 fibreglass Tank and Forks. Tank suits the look we're going for over the bandit one, just needs cut a bit to get the right fit Fork will be shortened the same as my forks on me GSXR. And the boss even had a sit on it so see how it is lol

shouldn't you brace that workbench a bit? One good push forward or backward and it will collapse.

I reckon it should be strong enough, its pretty strong. Ive got some 25mm box if we think we need to brace it but had 400kgs of bodyweight on there jumping and moving around on it and it seemed sturdy enough lol
