Yea I know, oh well at least I know they're ready to go back on and are working correctly. its easy to look back after an event but like you say...least now they are done and you shouldn't have to worry about them again:-) Are you using a fuel filter now too??

Wasn't using one before as it was a brand new auxiliary tank.

Another 1? Dam my wife will go potty lol. But the whole package sounds good. However I have a standard exhaust I want to use & not sure that would work with that.

The bottom rings are all correct but I cannot tell which way round the top ones are. They're supposed to have an N on them but there is nothing so I'll need a magnifying glass to check the end profile as per manual. The bottom rings were marked though and they're all genuine parts.

Fingers crossed mate that the unmarked ring is the culprit... would've thought that if oil was gettin' past the piston tho', it would've been somethin' to do with the oil control rings?. Yer doin' the right think checkin' the rings profile as per the manual There's some really shit-hot engine builders on 'ere... hope one of 'em will chime in at some point and give their tuppence worth on the problem.

Looked again at the manual and there is no right or wrong way for the top ring so my rings were/are as per manual. I see no oil marks up the sides between the rings either.

Well fella, at least ya can put that one to bed... gotta admit that I'm pretty stumped now as to what else it could be.
Wish I could help more. Hope someone else can take the time to read this thread and give ya their opinion.

Coils and carbs.....those are the two things I'd be going over with a fine tooth combe. Coils need to be Dyna, carbs need to be totally clean and balanced.

I won't even press the start button till a set of dyna coils are fitted, not heard yet if my mate has found the ones I'm buying from him. And the carbs have been ultrasonically cleaned twice, floats set and statically balanced.
