Having a break this weekend from building. Have worked the past 4 months worth of weekends, and so I deserve a little break. Loaded up the GSXR Thou with some overnight gear. In Australia this weekend in WA its Australia Day. Heading down south to cooler weather and some touring. Did a full maintenance on the K8, ready to rock and roll. All I need is for Saturday to get here first - rofl. Have a good one everyone

Looks like I didn't do my homework too good with the cams. Seems it is mandatory to buy the ST2 Valve Spring Kit to accompany them in order to install and have them work properly.
[Included with Parts] - Valve spring - Titanium Retainer - Valve spring seat - Spring seat shim (T=0.5mm) - Spring seat shim (T=0.75mm) ST-2 Camshaft Only. Valve spring retainer clips using the STD
Their instructions are clear, shame they didn't mention it as MANDATORY instead of recommended when I order the fucking things. Now have to wait yet again for the damn spring kit. What a cluster fuck !!
There only $1,292:00 AUD - FUCK ME !!

Managed to find a picture or 2 of all this gear I need to complete the top end. These ones are for another model, but you get the idea. If nothing else, they give you a hard on just by looking at them even at rest - rofl. Disregard the part number stamped and visible, (for a later model unit.) The pictures are as hard to find as the suppliers and there outlets. Should be here soon. Got shipped yesterday, they claim a 3 day turn around. Got them through Webike Japan. japan.webike.net/

Looks cool package Yoshi style'e' I ran st2 cam with std valves springs and retainers made 10bhp more than before but I did go through the case hardening on the rockers on track day gutted as wrecked cams and cost me a fortune. Good luck. Chief.

Spent Saturday and Sunday afternoon refitting the head, cams, dialed in cams, checked and rechecked 3 times to be sure to be sure. Looking good if I say so myself. This coming weekend, the motor is going back into the frame. Bout bloody time !!

Yesterday I crated the motor and just this morning dropped it off to Neil Anderson, a resident Perth Guru engine builder and tuner. He is giving the motor a once over and ensuring the cams are dialed in correctly. I decided to do this given as I dont want mistakes or issues. SO waiting a few weeks more to put it in the frame, should come as no surprise to anyone, especially me. There is so much to bolt on still and the amount of plumbing involved, felt it best we proceed this way. if there's a hick up I want it sorted now, and not later. Doing the work a 2nd or even 3rd time will not float my boat. Given the many ways to finely tune an engine for top end power or bottom end take off, its best its dialed in at its best. Ultimately I'm looking for a 102 through 105 lobe setting, lets see what he comes up with eh Might be a week, or a month before I get it back, cannot push or rush his work. He seeks perfection, guess that's why he is in so much demand. The end of the queue to get this fella to work on your bike is generally 3 blocks down, guess im one of the fortunate few.... Will post more when I have the motor back and inserted between the frame rails peeps

Looks cool package Yoshi style'e' I ran st2 cam with std valves springs and retainers made 10bhp more than before but I did go through the case hardening on the rockers on track day gutted as wrecked cams and cost me a fortune. Good luck. Chief. Although it seems I am pussy footing around, the additional HP the cams may make will be inconsequential The power delivery is everything and correctly dialed in cams will get that feedback - The idea was to build an engine with the exact specs of the 1987 Bonneville 1200 motor which saw 297 km/h in its standard guise running 17" rims. With these vital engine items now, I can say that has been achieved. With the 3mm block spacer fitted, there is no problem with valve to piston clearances however, horsepower will be significantly down, and thats why I am bolting on a turbo for the much need neddies. Ultimately I want to take out my 26 year old bike, in its updated form which will actually stop on a dime, matched with modern suspension, to deliver all the power and glory of the engines capacity to the tarmac. I will be chasing somewhere between 200 / 210 bhp which I believe achievable and tractable too. Anymore power would be wasteful and 300 km/h is not a stretch of anyone's imagination on a bike you actually sit in, not on accompanied with the added screen / wind protection not found on modern bikes for anyone over 5' 10" - lol. The bike will be for sprint work, not endurance runs, as the tank capacity on these bikes were short anyway, a range of 150 kms will top it out before i'm looking to refuel. Mostly though, I wanna blow some of these snot nosed kids off the road that have in the past scoffed at the Grandfather of all hyper sports thinking its a relic. This is what the Bonneville looked like back in the day. Mine won't look anything like this cosmetically, but it was a force to reckon with even then. Only thing I haven't found yet is the oil catch can. Not sure if I will need one to be honest.
