Hey all Picking up a Bandit 6 in a few days, which has (from the looks of it) a 750 WN/WP swingarm fitted, since I saw FBB mention in the other b6 swingarm thread say there really isnt anything that fits "easily", I was wondering if anyone knows which is actually involved in making it fit? Always nice to be able to know its been done "the right way" and not just "well it fits" Also any idea on caliper bracket / torque arm arrangement? IIRC the WN / WP arm has a "slot" in it for the caliper bracket to lock into, rather than using a torque arm? Cheers all

Spindle sizes are the same but bandit frame is a lot narrower at the pivot point so at a guess the bosses on the frame have been cut back and maybe some cut off either side of the arm at mounting point . . .All doable with a bit of time and patience

Cheers gsx... I really hope the frame hasn't been all chopped about and done badly... (Maybe I'm just being melodramatic about this, but ya never know...)
Looking at things from the other side of the equation... is it possible / likely the swingarm has been / can be made narrower etc.. without having to make any changes to the bike frame, or is that purely wishful thinking?
Cheers

Ive done a gsxr 1000 k series one, that involved cutting the frame boss.s down and drilling the pivot out to 25mm, looked tricky though What shock did ya use to put the 1000 arm into the bandit? I do have a K1 swinger, shock , rear wheel and everything else from a K1 1000, and I gotta admit, I much prefer the look of it to the WN/WP swinger... Whats the deal with bandit swingarm swaps in terms of "relevance" to other frames... for example.. Does any swinger that fits a B12, fit a B6 with no problems, or are the frames a different width / spindle size / whatever than the B12? Also same applies towards the Gixxers, Are there any swingers that fit B6/B12 and gixxers, or is it a case of "it fits one easily, but the others are a b**tard. I have a feeling the origional K1 shocker will be way too long to fit into a B6 chassis, But I lost track of the shock length measurements I used to have

b6 and b12 frame dimensions are the same so swingers fit both

So, I picked up my new toy on friday, but had to go away again for a few days so haven't really had much chance to get to know her until now It's got a waterboiler arm in it, although not sure of the exact model / year. Sadly having a real close look at it, I'm a little concerned that while it "fits" it may need some changes.. As you can see, it's still using the "standard" bottom shock mount, rather than the centre-stand mount such as yours... I'm not sure which knuckle has been used but either the fact it's still using its original lower mount, the wrong knuckle, or possibly both. At rest on the side-stand the knuckle is practically up against the base of the shock which I'm guessing probably make contact when the suspension unloads.. Likewise this causes the dogbones to be incredibly close to touching the arm while the bike is on its sidestand and again I suspect they may touch with the suspension unloaded... I can't really get a good look at the moment to see how they got the arm to fit width-wise, the chainline looks pretty straight (all be it rather slack, so need to get it tight before being 100% sure).. Any input / tips / help you guys can give as to perhaps what SHOULD be done to fit the arm, or what knuckle / dogbones etc.. would fit correctly, I would greatly appreciate it! P.S. : Even info on how the waterboiler arm fits into a slingy would be useful, as I could compare that info to what's needed to fit a K1 arm into a slingy and FBB's info above about fitting a K1 arm into a bandit and should be able to figure out what's required Thanks all

For starters you need a spacer to keep the dog bones apart, there's nothing to stop them moving about!! also they hit the swinger, nothing wrong with using the original shock mount as long as the shocks short enough, the linkage needs to be different to move the dog bone pivot point to the rear to stop them hitting the swinging arm, also that chain is rustier than the titanic............ take a pic from farther back to show the angle of the swinger

Yep, that seat looks way too high! Judging by the standard of "engineering" on this bike I would want to whip that swingarm out asap, sort it properly/safely & end up with a more sensible ride height. Looks like someone has put the exhaust can on upside down too??..

Looks like someone has put the exhaust can on upside down too??.. Aye seat height is rather high for a little chap like myself (I'm only 5"6' with boots on) LOL, but I'm used to that kinda thing, ridden CR500's and stuff which are like getting on a horse HAHA So, If I am looking to sort this super serious... Any suggestions as to what parts I *SHOULD* be using? WN knuckle or bandit knuckle? Which Dogbones? Original lower shock mount, or centre-stand mount? What kinda shock length should I be looking at ? I *Do* still have a K1 1000 arm, wheel and everything which I was planning to fit into my 750J, would you suggest it may be far easier to fit it into the bandit instead then FBB? Cheers *edit* with regards to the exhaust can... Dunno what its off, but pretty sure its the right way up lol, It's own "built-in" hanger is at the top, Seems unlikely it would be mounted at the bottom (asuming it is upside-down currently). Also if ya check out my other thread there's a few more pics of the bike and the one from the rear... you can see the angle of the main "pipe" in the can and looks right (or perhaps more accurately, it looks "less wrong" than it would the other way up)

Are you using it daily or can you pull it apart, if it was me id take it out and see how its fitted in the frame. is the frame cut back or the swinger cut down ?? at the very least sort the dog bones out, in fact id stick a b12 swinger and linkage and dog bones in.. how long is the shock?? is the rear wheel a 5.5 incher???
