I cant remember if its 16 or 17mm either & cant get at my tools to check for ya, hopefully someone will be along soon with the proper answer While we are on the subject of plugs ....... before you remove them you might want to make sure there is not a lot of crap in the recesses & that the water drain holes on the front of the motor are clear, I usually brush them out as well as possible stick the hoover pipe over them or blast them with compressed air to remove any loose crap then bang some WD down the holes & make sure it comes out the front, a bit of stiff wire should remove any blockage if poked in from the front If they don't drain properly the plugs can arc out in rain or after washing Ordered a 16mm socket mate, gotta get a look inside those bores and get some lube down there a.s.a.p. hence the urgency.... hope I got the right one! Can't say I'm keen on the deep plug holes on these motors, totally agree about the potential for shit fallin' in... thanks for lettin' me know about the drain holes, didn't even know they were there!. As I said, don't have a socket so not removed the plugs yet.. will follow yer advice before I do. That's why you need a compressor to blow the shit out before you undo them.

Not a very productive day yesterday, needed to order some parts and stuff so got on with that.. £270 gone within just a few clicks!. smiley-shocked003
Decided to buy a cheap (£7.99) borescope, so hopefully I'll be able to check the state of the cylinders in a few days time.... thought I'd best pop the cam cover back on until then.
Started to loosen all the airbox and inlet manifold clips with a view to pullin' the carbs off and found the manifold clip for No3 cylinder wasn't tight... hmmm, don't like that at all.... wasn't me officer!!!.
Had a bit of a wrestle with the carbs but they're not budging... will give it another go when I'm next in the garage.
Removed the tailpiece (a.k.a the mouse house) and battery box. Attempted to remove the rear mudguard, but prevented from doing so by the alarm wiring that has no block connector for easy splitting from the main loom... will remove the alarm itself from the muguard just as soon as I find my torx bits.
Inspected the fuel tank, which is a major weak-point on these bikes, immaculate condition inside and out, thank fook... how in the hell it escaped the same issues with condensation that have wrecked the rest of the bike, is beyond me.
Finally, just got goin' with the massive clean-up of salvageable parts. Think that's it... domestic-duties today, so will get back on it Saturday and Sunday.
