I'll look into making a jig at the weekend for the bandit sidestands and may need to borrow a GSXR one to copy. Watch this space. Dave h

Cheers for that. The shock has been completely stripped, plated, powder coated, polished, new hose, damper rod, seals and re-gassed. It looks better than new and now fitted. Paint work has gone away. My big problem at the moment is trying to find a rear brake master cylinder with 50mm bolt centers to fit the rearsets. If anyone knows of one please let me know what model it's off or I'm going to have a go at making one. Dave h The rear master off an R1 may be what you need. I think that's what I had to get for my rearsets. I 'll have to check for you as soon as I can get down to my secret bike building bunker............the garage

Cheers for that Rich but I've found a brembo one that will fit. If you could see what the mounting hole centers are though as my mate needs one also. Cheap build gone out of the window again, just bought a complete tl1000 with a blown engine for the rear wheel and front end. When will I ever learn?

Managed to get a couple of quality man hours in yesterday. Got some 2" aluminium angle delivered this week so made a start on the brackets for the newly painted oil cooler. And fitted to the bike. I haven't decide whether to anodise it or give it a dull brushed finish. Any opinions will be taken on board. The other month I bought a bottom yoke off that internet site. At the price it was a steal and is very well made and originally for a set of 54mm forks. My idea was to make a matching top yoke which I will do but have to bore the bottom yoke out to 55mm to match the TL1000s forks I have. Anyone who was interested in an ally sidestand, please be patient, I don't work very quickly but I won't forget you. Dave h

Nice work on the bracket Dave, looks very tidy. Wish I had the equipment you have to make stuff.....I hate paying stupid prices for stuff I could make myself...sob sob

Dull brush finish on the bracket. Red scotchbrite works quite well. Can always paint it after if not happy!

+2 for a dull brush finish. BTW Dave, the R1 rear master cylinder measured 46mm between the centre of the bolts.

Thanks for that Rich. I've actually found a design fault in the cheap chinky rearsets I bought. The mounting holes for the m/cylinder are offset to the pivot on the lever so whatever is fitted it will push the plunger in at an angle instead of straight. Looks like I'll be making my own. I don't fancy making a bracket to offset the m/cylinder as I think it will look cluttered on the hanger. I'll get some pics over the weekend.

Don't get me wrong Rich, there quite well made for the price I paid. I was going to make my own but couldn't justify the time when I saw them. All the mounting bolts have been ditched as well as the linkage rod and rose joints as they looked really crappy. It's just the design flaw that's a pain in the arse. I've stripped a TL 1000 rear m/ cylinder down tonight for the internals and will measure up and try to make a start this weekend. I could do with giving up work really to have more quality garage time.

I got a start on the rear m/cylinder this afternoon. Started with this. To this. I was going to make an adapter to attach the fluid pipe to the m/cylinder body but decided to use the original. I lubricated it up and fit the piston and pushrod and it all seemed okay. I'm quite happy with it upto now so will carry on later with it.
