Ordered some Motul 5100 10w40, see what it's like as it was 5 litres for 4. Just need a new filter now & find out next week if the compression is better after a good de-sludge

If needed you can take the top end off with the engine still in the frame. hope all turns out ok for ya. if still no joy i would be having the head off first leave the plugs in and turn it upside down on a flat surface and fill the combustion chambers with a thin oil so it covers the valves and see where it leaks through out of the inlets ports and exhaust ports. if 3 is pissing it out compared to any of the others then a reseat of the valves is in order. I would reseat them all and fit new valve stem seals if the head does come off anyway. would be a good time to look down the bore of number 3 and compare it to the others for signs of wear. if you were to replace all the piston rings they would cost around the £200 mark for genuine suzuki stuff then gaskets at extra cost so a top end overhaul aint cheap and thats just for parts.

It'll cost a fortune fitting an 1100 lump, a few hundred for an engine (never see them for sale though) another big wedge for carbs.

Benefits of fixing your engine is that you know it will be good for years after. A second hand engine is a bit of a gamble sometimes you win sometimes you loose.

If you want to win sometime and you deside to put a 1100 lump get you a 1100 F engine (torguey and cheap)

How cheap? & how much are carbs likely to be? I assume the 750 sump fits that still. Oh & looking at images I don't think I have ever seen one of those on the road. All I remember is the 600f.

Powerscreen gsx 1100 f, dont know how much them cost in England but them are known to be cheap everywhere 250-400 GPB In Holland can get them for the same amount in euros. Them have the same carbs BST34SS as the slabby 1100

Sadly the engines for these are becoming harder to find in the uk 94 or 97 they stopped being sold here. two on eblag one is £375 with one knackered exhaust stud hole and the other is £499 both are about £60 nuggets delivery . not seen any carbs advertised except in the states for £145 plus £37 delivery to uk plus import duty when it gets here

In Holland you can still find them, +-250 for the lump and +-800 for the hole bike. Maybe I have to begin new business

That's a more sensible price. There's an 1100G engine for sale on there for £475 i think it is but then that still requires carbs. I'm still waiting for the engine flush which is supposed to be here today at latest. So when I use the flush along with some cheap oil should I just let it warm up then idle for 30-60min before I drain OR take it for a hack then drain? I just want to be sure that stuff has had a good work through & long enough to do what it's supposed to do.
